The Knights released their 2015-16 schedule on Tuesday. The first two matchups will feature a pair of opponents that each made the NCAA Tournament last season.
Davidson, the season-opening opponent, and UC Irvine, the home opener, were each knocked out of the tournament in the Round of 32.
"This non-conference schedule will be a great test for us," head coach Donnie Jones said in a press release. "We will be playing some talented teams – with the likes of Davidson, UMass and George Washington – which will help prepare us for the always difficult American Conference season."
UCF takes on the University of Miami (Ohio) for the first time in school history and faces foe George Washington for the first time since a 1996 knockout in the NCAA Tournament, according to the release.
The Knights open up conference play against East Carolina on Jan. 2. The men’s basketball AAC Championships will be hosted at the Amway Center in Orlando this year as well.
"This is going to be a great league once again this year," Jones said. "There are some historic programs with great coaching and a lot of talent in the American, but our young core gained a lot of experience during conference play last season."
